Creating a Library of Assets for a C- Store Pizza Chain
The Need
A new competitor in the C-Store pizza industry reached out to myself and the Seamless Matter team earlier this year. They had a need to photograph 6 different pizzas, 3 different types of wings, and a new chicken and waffle product. The client needed images on white, hero food photography, merchandising images, and a 15-30 second video. Keep reading to find out how we did it!
A Team Effort
With a job this big you need a team to create the content. We used the Seamless Matter team to make the creative for this shoot. The team consist of Kris D’Amico, Mayur Phadtare, Marcus Serrano, and myself. We also brought in food stylist Jenn Davis to help prep the pizzas and do any food and prop styling that was needed for the job.
Timeline
The timeline for this shoot was a pretty long one. From initial client contact to first client meeting was a few weeks. After the first client meeting it was another few weeks until shoot day. The client had a two week deadline on image turn around. The number of required deliverable images meant that we would be spending two full production days on set.
Client Deliverables
For this job we had a lot of client deliverables. For each of the 6 pizzas we needed an overhead shot, a shot into the pizza from the diners perspective, and a lifestyle shot. For the chicken wings we need an over head shot on white, a shot of the wings in a to go carrier from overhead, a shot of the wings in the to go carrier partially open from a diners perspective, a hero lifestyle image, and an image were the wings are pictured next to the spices that the company sells to go with them. For the chicken and waffles we needed a similar set of images. We also created images of the merchandiser that the foods are sold out of at convenience stores. All images were delivered on a transparent background, and a white background with drop shadows. The client also needed a few short videos of the products as well. The client needed an entire library of assets to use in marketing their products.
The Setup
When you have to create this many images in two days you have to create multiple sets do get the job done. We had an overhead set to shoot down on the pizzas, a diners perspective set on a white background, a lifestyle set and a video set. For the on white shoots we were able to style the pizzas on the top down set and then move them over to the diners perspective set, and then bring them over to the video set. We made fresh pizzas for each lifestyle shot.

Wrapping It Up
We had a great two days on set creating all oof the images for this client. We captured a mixture of imagery needed both for e-commerce and for in store marketing. We provided the client with the assets that they need to sell their products. We also made c-store foods look delicious. Our goal with these products is to create imagery that sells foods. We want to evoke an emotion in the viewer that leads them to go out and buy some pizza and wings.
The next time your company needs an asset catalog give me a shout! Creating this type of imagery is what my team lives to do. We love working with c-stores, food producers, the service industry, and food brokers.
