My Introduction to Food Photography
When it comes to cooking in the Bumgardner family I am in charge of cooking on the weekdays, while my wife takes the charge on the weekends. Cooking has become one of my favorite activities to do with my wife. We enjoy spending each weekend coming up with new recipes, new flavors, and trying new recipes. Here are a few samples. Hopefully, food photography will become a bigger part of my photographic life. I photographed these last weekend on a new canvas backdrop that I am super excited about.
Update!!!
In May 2016 I wrote about the beginning of my food photography journey. At the time I had been taking food photos on the weekends for fun for about a year. At that point, I had not shared my food photography photos with anyone. It was a simple pleasure on the weekends. When I started taking food photography pictures I was a Staff Photographer at Saks Off 5th Avenue. I was looking for a creative outlet outside of product photography. One thing led to another and I built up a food photography portfolio over the period of about 6 months. In July 2016 when I left Saks I had a full food photography portfolio that I began shopping around. With a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, I have become a food photographer.
Nick Bumgardner is a food photographer based out of Nashville, TN.
